After spending about 16 hours unconscious yesterday, I am happy to report that I am feeling a smidge better today. I’m not sure what the heck is going on but this is the second time I’ve come down with a 24-hour bug that really knocked me on my bum. Yesterday was a pretty hellacious day [...]

Another splendid day in the Holy Land!

On Wednesday, we began our journey by paying a visit to the Jordan River and the baptism site of Yardenit on the southern tip of Galilee, near where Jesus himself was baptized (above).

Momma Perez even bought a bottle to take some water back home. Holy water! Literally!

We splashed some on ourselves and then we headed to the desert and up via cable car to the old fortress in the sky, Massada, which was built during Roman times - literally carved into the rock on top of the mountain.

Afterwards, we made our way to one of the famous beaches on the Dead Sea for a bit of a splash! And, though we're not much of a buyer of nicknacks and touristy things, we did purchase some Dead Sea bath salts and soaps.

We're taking Israel home with us too!

Check out more photos from our adventures (below)!

The Official Prince William Wedding Memorabilia Is Now Available For Sale

Hear ye! Hear ye! The royal wedding of Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of Wales and his longtime girlfriend Catherine Elizabeth Kate Middleton (who were spotted out on the town in England over the weekend on their first official outing since announcing their engagement last month) is only 4 months away … but the official [...]

And so … the rain continues to fall here in SoCal. I’m not gonna lie, while I can appreciate the change of pace … the continuous rain is starting to be a real downer. I spent all of yesterday holed up indoors, trying to stay out of the cold wetness inside … and also spent much of my time trying to extract the constructive criticism from some of y’all about your feelings regarding the new layout of Pink is the new Blog.

Believe me, from the bottom of my heart … I am very thankful for all the feedback … both good and bad. Yes, it is much easier to read the positive comments but the passionate negative comments are very enlightening. I’ve been blogging for a very long time. It started out as a hobby but over time it turned into a passion and has been my livlihood for quite some time now. While nothing would make me happier than to please all people, all the time … that simply cannot be. When I started blogging, there was no TMZ … major news publications never dared to lower themselves to the blog format … and it was pretty much the Wild West of the Blogosphere (oh yeah, we used to use that word, too). My initial blog format was to write one big, long post per day and squeeze in as much daily goss as I could in that one post. The only reason that was my format of choice was because my poor HTML skills wouldn’t allow me to do anything else. It took a long time for me to risk changing EVERYTHING into a totally new format a few years ago … and then again now. It’s clear that some folks don’t like this new layout, and I can totally appreciate that. I’m listening to the dislikes and working towards finding a way to find a middle ground … as I said yesterday, nothing is set in stone. At the end of the day, I still really love what I do. I still really LOVE keeping up on pop culture and celebs and sharing my thoughts on all the funnest stuff. That is what I have been doing since I started blogging and that is what I plan to do for as long as I can. Blog culture is so different now than it was when I started. Now, major corporations with seemingly endless amounts of money fund seemingly endless numbers of blogs. I’m still just one person. In order for me to be able to continue to do what I love doing … I need to grow, adapt, change. Of course it is not my intention to alienate anyone, least of all you beloved readers who seem to enjoy what I do … but in order for me to be able to keep on bloggin’, things gotta change from time to time.

To those of you sending in your well wishes, positive comments and love — words cannot express what that has meant to me in the past 24 hours. To those of you honestly sharing your thoughts — both good and bad — I honestly love you for taking the time to share those thoughts with me. My end goal has been and will continue to be to keep writing Pink is the new Blog. I’m happy and thankful for any and everyone who wants to keep reading along.

The Effectiveness of USB Drum Kits

We Came As Romans - "To Move On Is To Grow" We Came As Romans is a Post-Hardcore band signed to Equal Vision Records. This is one of the few bands that actually brings a solid "new" sound to this overly saturated scene. Their first record "To Plant A Seed" really kicked some butt, and their latest single "To Move On Is To Grow" isn't backing down!

Christian Karaoke Songs - Find The Lord With Music

Legendary rock and roll band The Rolling Stones got their start in 1962 and they're still performing on the road and releasing new music today after nearly five decades in the business. Most books written about the group cannot rightly sum up their entire career; it's just been too storied and too drawn out to correctly quantify the magic behind the men. The band's front man Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards were childhood friends growing up in England.

Ryan Reynolds & Scarlett Johansson Reunite In NYC

Last Tuesday we learned the sad news that married couple Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson decided to end their marriage and a couple of days later, Scarlett showed up in Jamaica with her BFFs in an effort to get away from all the media attention. This weekend, she made her way back to NYC and [...]

Kevin Federline rounded up his children with ex-wife Britney Spears — sons Sean Preston and Jayden James — and his ladyfriend Victoria Prince for a family outing in Chatsworth, CA last week so that the family could pick out an Xmas tree. Here are a few photos from the fun family outing:

These are really cute photos, y’all. I am just amazed at how big both Sean P. and JJ keep growing! And, in all honesty, I must give some credit to their father K-Fed. For the most part, my beef with the man has been over the way he has continued to leech off of his famous and very wealthy ex-wife but for the better part of the last year, he has remained off the radar and seems to have finally settled into a quiet life of fatherhood. Even his relationship with Victoria Prince seems to be stable and happy and, well, I can’t really think of a bad thing to say about either of them. While I have never been an K-Fed fan, there have been glimmers of hope that the guy might turn out to be a decent person … for some time now, it appears that the guy has finally grown his ass up. While it’s unfortunate that the children have to be shuttled back and forth between their parents, I understand the relationship that Britney and Kevin share is one that is friendly enough so that their children never get caught in the middle of any drama. I’m not saying I’m a bona fide Kevin Federline fan but I can now appreciate that he seems to have matured enough to not warrant any personal attacks. I just hope he continues to be the best father he can be to his sons … if that is his main goal, then he’s deffo got a fan in me.

I have only been playing ukulele for about the past 3 months and I learned a few number of songs. The strumming patterns is a little different but you can still hear the flow of the song. The songs that I learned was Airplanes, Drop Baby Drop, Ehu Girl, Count On Me, I'm Yours and some more that I can't name but it doesn't matter.

Hip Hop Sampling 101

Almost an entire year after taking a beating from fans and the media for his 2009 VMA fiasco, Kanye West wasted no time climbing from rock bottom right back to the top of the charts. With the November 22 2010 release of " My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy", Kanye has proved to fans and foe alike that nothing can stand between him and making great music. This brilliant album features a refreshing variety of sound from bone chilling choral melodies to the well mixed beats and rhythms one would expect of Kanye. Mix in some powerful and...

Robert Earl Keen - Authentic Americana

People who become full-time artists and musicians in this day and age often have a screw or two loose. They are creative types, those who are willing to sacrifice worldly comforts in order to produce their craft and express their ideas. Those who become famous are often no different; they are simply just lucky. Either that, or they are self-promoting egoists. Either way, when contemplating the famous musicians of our time, there is no shortage of crazy, unstable, neurotic examples. Every time you turn on your high definition television, it seems like another one has done something completely nuts, and has possibly been arrested for it, which naturally produces a mug shot that instantly goes viral. And now, with satellite TV, it is easier than ever to keep up-to-date with these celebrity musicians' escapades. Here is a list of some of the craziest musicians you might encounter on satellite TV.

Ryan Reynolds & Scarlett Johansson Are Dunzo!

Uh oh! We’ve got another celebrity break-up to discuss … and this one is even bigger than Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter‘s split. I have safely and happily made my way back home from my frigid and snowy home state of Michigan to the warmer climes of California … and it feels good to be home. Even tho I had a lot of fun in Detroit, I really really REALLY hate the cold and the snow so … yeah, I was itching a bit to get back home. I did manage to bring a bit of my home with me to LA … my mom scrounged up my class rings, yearbooks and other school memorabilia so that I could bring them home with me:

I think I’m finally ready to ask David to go steady with me so … he’ll get to wear my high school class ring if he says yes. I know that many folks have asked for high school photos of me but I just can’t find the strength to embarrass myself like that just yet … maybe some day but, nope, not yet.

So yeah … I’m home again … and for a while ;) Tonight, David and I have tickets to see the Broadway musical Next to Normal which is in production here in LA for a few weeks:

We both saw it on Broadway in NYC last year but not together. He loved the show so much he wanted to see it again so … that’s what we’re doing! Happy Tuesday, y’all … it’s great to be home!!

On December 17, "Tron: Legacy" will race its way onto the big screen, leaving a trail of neon light and badass action in its wake. And, in case you've been disappointed by the recent spate of movies that have added 3-D after the fact or were converted to IMAX to make a quick buck, rest assured that "Tron: Legacy" did neither of those things.

The sequel to 1986's "Tron" was filmed using 3-D cameras and has seven action-packed sequences that were shot specifically for IMAX. In other words, this is one film that was intended to be seen and heard -- and, more importantly, should be seen and heard -- in IMAX 3-D. Check out the exclusive "Tron: Legacy" featurette below for a glimpse at the grand spectacle and three-dimensional awesomeness that await.

3 Styles of Jazz Music

Jazz is a music genre that originated at the beginning of the 20th century. It was the African American communities in the Southern United States from a confluence of African and European music traditions that created jazz. From its early development until the present, jazz has incorporated music from 19th and 20th century American popular music that actually worked.

And while she's at it, she should get a new stylist too!

Christian Rock Wedding Songs - How to Find a Good One

How many times have you seen books, articles, even seminars on how to write a good song - which, in itself isn't a bad thing - but as one songwriter aptly remarked, "okay, I've written the song - now what?" Getting a half decent answer to that question has, in my experience, been responsible for more songwriters failing in this industry, than for any other reason. So, what is a songwriter to do once a song is written?

French Music

Being a part-time guitar instructor, I agree on the old saying "talent is 90 percent effort". Learning how to play guitar could be challenging. But with the present of guitar instruction DVD on the internet today, mastering the chords, the rhythms and everything about guitar is easier. The traditional teacher-student arrangement could be the most efficient way to learn guitar.

One, I was ten when I first started lessons and what ten year old boy do you know that likes to hang around old people?

Learn Piano Masterfully With Rocket Piano

So you have decided that it is now time to stop putting it off and to go look at portable minidisc players. You know that you want a portable player that is made from quality parts and put together by people with a true understanding of what they are doing. However, it can be hard to tell what you are getting if you are not doing a little research first. Most people would think that research is only required for the extra large purchases, but why is it that something that is less expensive is not worth the extra effort? Even if you are only spending twenty or forty dollars, that money is not money that you should be willing to burn.

Paris Hilton Gets Another Home Intruder

Back in August we learned that Paris Hilton, no stranger to the long arm of the law herself, awoke to the sounds of an intruder trying to break into her home in the early morning hours while wielding a knife. In celebration of the upcoming 25th anniversary of the classic 80′s films, a new DVD box set is being released of the Back to the Future Trilogy complete previously unseen footage from the first 5 weeks of production of the film. This previously unseen footage features the character we all know and love, Marty McFly, going back to 1955 by way of a time-traveling Delorean car — but what makes this particular footage special is that actor Eric Stoltz was originally cast as Marty McFly … behold:

Everyone knows the classic 1985 film “Back to the Future” featured a boyish Michael J. Fox in a winning performance as Marty McFly. But Fox was not the original McFly. In fact, Eric Stoltz was five weeks into shooting the famed McFly role when director and co-writer Robert Zemeckis made a drastic production decision — changing his lead actor. Details of the shocking Hollywood switch and never-before-seen footage of Stoltz as McFly are part of the extras package for the “Back to the Future 25th Anniversary Trilogy” to be released on Blu-Ray on Oct. 26. Zemeckis says the casting change was “this horrific decision; it was heartbreaking for everybody.” Executive producer Steven Spielberg said that Zemeckis consulted him before pursuing the casting change. “(Zemeckis) showed me the first five weeks of shooting that he had put together,” Spielberg said. ” And he said, ‘I just don’t think we’re getting the laughs I was hoping we would get.’ ” Spielberg said he realized his director “was absolutely correct.” The rest is pop-culture history.

I knew that Stoltz was cast as the original Marty McFly but I had never seen footage of him in the role. After the jump, check out video from the Back to the Future Trilogy box set that shows key scenes from Back to the Future with Eric Stolz as Marty McFly

Holy shizz!! This footage BLOWS MY MIND! I am such a big fan of the Back to the Future films … news of this remastered DVD box set is really exciting. Click HERE to preorder your copy now! Equally exciting is the news that AMC Theaters will show Back to the Future on the big screen again at the end of this month in celebration of the film’s 25th anniversary:

The film will only be shown on October 23 and 25, click HERE for more deets. Talk about your blast from the past … er, future ;)

‘The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills’ Premieres In Beverly Hills

Back in May we learned that actress-turned-pop star Hilary Duff would be releasing her debut novel this Fall … and, at long last, the time is at hand. Hilary‘s book Elixir, which she co-authored with Elise Allen, is available in stores now and last night she made an in-person appearance at a Border’s in NYC to meet her fans and sign a few books. MTV got their hands on a review copy of Elixir and offer their thoughts on what the book has in store:

Co-authored by Elise Allen, “Elixir” is a supernatural tale about destiny and soulmates. Think of it as “The Time Traveler’s Wife” starring a much-more-grounded version of Serena van der Woodsen. Perhaps drawing from her own experience in the limelight, Hilary’s protagonist is 17-year-old Clea Raymond, a reluctant tabloid staple thanks to her parents’ high-profile careers (mom is a politician, dad is a renowned surgeon). From a young age, Clea’s dad nurtures her interest in photography, and by her teens, Clea is fielding dream photojournalism assignments under the pseudonym Alissa Grande (no one wants to hire a celebutante only interested in vanity projects, after all).

HMMM. You can read the rest of the MTV review of Elixir HERE. IMHO, Hil D‘s book is prolly just as good as Nicole Richie‘s new book Priceless and DEFFO better than the new book “written” by Mike The Situation Sorrentino. Whether or not this book sounds interesting to you, I’m sure it’ll be of some interest to Hilary‘s young fans … and anything that gets kids to read books is A-OK with me :D

New 'Deathly Hallows' TV Spots Give Us Seven Potters, A Destroyed Horcrux And Much More!

Oh Warner Bros., you have outdone yourself yet again. Today we're greeted with eight new "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" TV spots that you've probably started to see on the small screen already. Surprisingly enough, there is new stuff to see from the film, even if it's only those little teases of [...]

Francis Ford Coppola's Vietnam War masterpiece "Apocalypse Now" hit Blu-ray today in both two-disc and three-disc special editions, giving fans their first-ever look at the original 1979 film and 2001's 49-minutes-longer director's cut, "Apocalypse Now Redux," in 1080p high definition. As if that weren't cool enough, both editions are packed to the hilt with "lost" scenes, never-before-seen interviews (including a Coppola-Roger Ebert Cannes Q&A) and illuminating making-of featurettes.

MTV has exclusively procured one such featurette, which shows a very young Laurence Fishburne reading for the part of Tyrone "Clean" Miller. Just how young was Fishburne? So young that he had to lie to get the gig. "He told us he was 17 or 18," said the casting director. "He was really 14... but we didn't find that out until we got to the Philippines." And yet the filmmakers kept Fishburne in the movie and the future Morpheus got his big break. After seeing just how badass Larry was, even at 14, we can't really blame them. See for yourself below...

Last night David and I were kindly invited to the Chateau Marmont as guests of Ralph Lauren for the launch event for their new line of fragrances called The Big Pony Collection. Unlike other launch event parties, last night’s affair was a full on dinner party with folks from Ralph Lauren as well as the band One Republic:

The whole night was just a lot of fun. After cocktail hour, we were led up to the photobooth room where we filmed a short 7 second video that got turned into a flip book! So fun!! Then we were treated to a 4 course meal of deliciousness with each course introduced by a different member of the band:

For dinner, David and I were seated next to One Republic guitarist Zack Filkins who was so charming, so nice to talk to … ’twas a very fun night. After the jump, check out some photos from dinner as well as photos and video from One Republic‘s acoustic set last night …

The new promo campaign video for The Big Pony Collection was shot by the famed Bruce Weber and features the song Secrets by One Republic. Secrets was among the songs they performed last night:

Here is video of the band’s performance of Secrets:

And here is the Bruce Weber directed promo video for the Ralph Lauren Big Pony Fragrance Collection:

I’ve been a big fan of Ralph Lauren cologne for years … yes, I was among the young cads who wore Polo in junior high. More recently, tho, I’m a big fan of Polo Black cologne. There are 4 new fragrances in The Big Pony Collection so David and I are now set for life on smelling good :) Much love goes out to Robbie and his team for taking such great care of us last night. The intimate nature of last night’s even made for a very special evening … David and I had a lot of fun.

Tonight, my friend Josh and I are going to the El Rey Theater to see Liz Phair live in concert. She is among my fave singer/songwriters EVER so I’m really excited for the show. It’s the weekend, y’all … have a great one!!
